What You’ll Do as an Inpatient Coder at Enjoin

As one of our Inpatient Coders, your work directly supports accurate capture of clinical complexity for inpatient encounters, ensuring that every patient’s story is fully and correctly represented before a claim is submitted. Unlike volume-focused coding environments, we pair your expertise with physician validation, so the work you produce is clinically defensible and built to withstand audit scrutiny.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes to inpatient records in compliance with Official Coding Guidelines and Coding Clinic guidance
• Ensure accurate DRG assignment based on clinical documentation, supporting appropriate reimbursement and reporting
• Capture all relevant diagnoses, procedures, and POA indicators to fully represent patient severity and risk of mortality
• Validate discharge disposition and other key data elements to support clean, compliant claim submission
• Stay current with coding updates, including Coding Clinic guidance, CMS regulatory requirements, and IPPS changes
• Maintain compliance with ethical coding standards across every record reviewed

Inpatient Coder Qualifications

We’re looking for credentialed, experienced inpatient coders who bring both technical precision and independent clinical judgment to every record.

Required:

• AHIMA credential: CCS, RHIT, or RHIA required
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of inpatient coding experience
• Technical proficiency: Experience with EHR systems and encoder tools
• Remote readiness: Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively in a fully remote environment
• Analytical rigor: Strong attention to detail and commitment to coding accuracy

Preferred:

• Experience working alongside CDI specialists or physician advisor teams
• Multi-facility or consulting experience
